Survey of Interest for 2026 Mission Trip

Mission Trip to Guatemala – June 2026: Let Us Know If You’re Interested!

This past June, a team from First Presbyterian Church had the incredible opportunity to travel to Guatemala on a mission trip with AIR (Alliance for International Reforestation). It was a powerful and meaningful experience for all involved — one that made a real difference in the lives of families and communities served, and in the hearts of those who served.

We’re excited to begin planning for another trip in June 2026 — and we’re inviting members of our congregation to consider joining this life-changing journey!

But first, we need your input.
If you think you might be interested in joining the 2026 team, please let us know which weeks in June 2026 you are available. This will help us choose the best week for the trip based on team availability.

September Mission Project

Let’s Help Support Families in Our Community with the Second Mile Parent Initiative!

The Second Mile Parent Initiative program created and developed a series of monthly parent training sessions known as Parent Parties® to increase parent engagement at school and to teach parents how to promote learning at home. Parent Parties® uses interactive games and activities to present parent engagement strategies that support better learning outcomes for students in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Parents enjoy Parent Parties® because they receive useful information and build relationships with the school staff and each other. They learn that they are not alone and they leave feeling empowered to advocate for their children.  Teachers and staff enjoy having a well-attended forum to engage parents, share information and address concerns. Our motto: “No More Meetings for Us! Let’s Have A Party!” reinforces our desire to make learning relaxing and fun.

To encourage parent participation, we hold a drawing at each parent party for fun games and other items that parents can take home to enjoy with their child or children. Visit Second Mile’s Parent Initiative Amazon Wishlist to learn more or to donate.

Whether you're retired or just have a bit of flexibility in your schedule, Goodtimers 2.0 is the perfect group to connect, have fun, and enjoy great company. We get together once a month for a variety of events—each one a little different, with dates and times that shift to fit the occasion. Take a look at what we have for this month - we’d love for you to join us!

Wed, August 20, 2:00 – 3:30pm, Back to School: A Mission in Motion Event. Let’s take a joyful walk down memory lane! Join us for a special “Back to School” event, where we’ll share stories and memories of our school days while enjoying classic school-time snacks and good company. As part of our Mission in Motion, we’ll also make a meaningful impact by filling a bin with school supplies for a local Madison County school and packing food sacks for the Backpack Ministry serving students at the Academy for Academics & Arts in Huntsville. Please consider donating these items and bring them with you to the event:

School Supplies: Copy paper, Crayons, Colored pencils, Markers, Glue, Index cards, Highlighters, Skinny Expo markers

Backpack Ministry Needs: Juice boxes, Fruit cups, Shelf-stable milk, Cereal bars, Individual cereal boxes, Individual pop-top meals.

Come for the memories, stay for the mission—and help make this school year brighter for local kids in need!
