Kirkin' O the Tartans

Kirkin' O' the Tartans is our cherished celebration of Scottish Presbyterian heritage and the deep roots of our faith. It is a joyful remembrance of early Scots who, during times of hardship, carried hidden fragments of their clan tartans to church for a secret blessing. Today, we honor that tradition with pride, unity, and gratitude, inviting all to join in the skirl of bagpipes and the warmth of community.

A highlight of the service is the Blessing of the Tartans. Members and friends process down the aisle in kilts, sashes, or family plaids, each tartan representing love for kin, past and present. As the minister offers prayers over them, we seek God's guidance for the journeys ahead. Hymns, readings, and flowers drawn from Scotland's legacy fill the sanctuary, reminding us of our shared story in Christ.

After worship, the gathering continues with Scottish refreshments, fellowship, and stories in the hall. Families connect, newcomers are embraced, and everyone discovers the beauty of our Presbyterian legacy.
