‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Matthew 25:40 ESV
Youth
Our vibrant youth program meets throughout each week, from Sunday School classes, to Sunday evening gatherings (Presbyterian Youth Connection), to Wednesday night small groups. All 6th-12th graders have a place with us at FPC!
We are dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and encouraging community of faith for our students, where all are welcome to come learn, worship, and have fun!
Sunday School
Youth Sunday school follow the LEAD program, incorporating a mission-based curriculum while developing and executing a service project of the class’s choosing every semester, and learning the logistics of church agenda. We are currently studying the PCUSA’s Mission Stories for Youth and Adults curriculum, and just completed our Fall service project of collecting and delivering bedding donations for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, bed building mission.
PYC
PYC (Presbyterian Youth Connection) meets every Sunday evening, 5-6:30pm! We incorporate fun, fellowship, missions, and lessons into our weekly meetings. Parents and congregation members sponsor meals each week, and youth members enjoy spiritual development through service, worship music, and devotion, and time spent in community with their peers.
Off-Site Events
This year we were blessed with many opportunities for great off-site events and activities. A few favorites were going to Top Golf, visiting Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN, Galaxy of Lights, and a Trash Pandas baseball game.
Mission
Service is an integral part of our youth program and is incorporated into most lessons and meetings at both Sunday School and PYC. A few of our mission projects from this year included making shower kits for ShowerUp - serving unhoused community members, collecting 600+ book donations for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital clinics, donating bedding to Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed building project, and making blankets for our homebound church members.
Small Groups
Middle School and High School small groups meet on Wednesday evenings, 7-8pm. The boys groups are studying Living the Questions curriculum, while the girls are working through Rest by Ruth Chou Simons and Fighting Words by Ellie Holcomb.
